In December last year, Rocking Star Yash officially announced the title of his much-awaited 19th film, Toxic, which also came with a date – April 10, 2025, is when it would be in theatres, came the proclamation. The release date of Toxic, it seemed, was a calculated move, with very many holidays in the days thereafter. But if the latest buzz is to be believed, Yash fans will have a much longer wait for the film.

A Pinkvilla report suggests that Toxic will not release on April 10. This was speculated in April this year, when the film had not gone on floors with exactly a year to go for its theatrical release. Netizens reckoned that a year was not enough for the shoot, post-production and publicity, but then in some of his earlier public appearances, Yash had said that in terms of scale, his next may not be a big film, but that it will have good content.

In such a scenario, a year would be enough time, considering that much of it could be used for the shoot and post-production. Given the anticipation for Yash’s film, with or without publicity, audiences will queue up to see what the KGF star has in store next.

Reports that have emerged in the time since, however, indicate that there will be massive shooting schedules. The team is said to be shooting in Bengaluru currently, although there’s been no official word on commencement, or casting. The only bit of official information till date was the release date and now that is also up in the air.

Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, is said to be a period film set between the 50s and 70s, exploring the drug mafia. It has been reported that Kiara Advani, Nayanthara and Huma Qureshi are a part of the film, with Tara Sutaria denying her involvement with the project earlier today. Nayanthara’s role was earlier meant to be done by Kareena Kapoor Khan, but then she pulled out owing to ‘scheduling conflicts’. The lack of local talent in the casting had netizens wondering if Yash was making a Kannada film.
