Fans of Rocking Star Yash have been a patient lot. For more than a year, they have been eagerly awaiting word on their favourite star’s next film, which has been dubbed #Yash19, but to no avail. In the few public appearances that Yash has made in the time, he has always maintained that he’s not been sitting idle and that work on his film has been going. He has not addressed any of the speculation surrounding it, especially as to who will be directing it. For a while now, he has been saying that an announcement will happen soon, which he said again, during his ongoing Malaysia trip. The actor is in Malaysia for the inauguration of the second branch of MS Gold

Addressing a gathering, the actor said, “I am working hard towards something. I won’t say that I am going to do something massive, but it will be a good product and a good film. Very soon I will be announcing; have little patience and trust me. You can expect a good kick-ass film.”

The film, which is to be produced by KVN Films, is speculated to be a Geethu Mohandas directorial, The Moothon maker has said in an earlier interview that her next will be a gangster film with a female gaze. Geethu, whose films explore the search for a loved one, has said that journeys and impending doom excite her as a filmmaker and that her upcoming project will include these elements. This project, which is now believed to be #Yash19, is the first time that Geethu is collaborating with other writers, and they, she said, have given up on her because of her style. Talking about her writing process to a panel at the Mumbai Film Festival, “I have no idea where I am going when I write. My process is quite crazy and erratic; I don’t know the structure and arc at the start. It has to evolve slowly. This is also why I don’t do narrations. I write something, shoot something else and edit something entirely different. I never stick to the script and this is what I tell producers also, ‘you are not going to get what you’ve read or heard’.”
