The upcoming streaming service will be called YRF Entertainment

Another streaming service is all set to hit the digital sphere in India, this time from Yash Raj Films. The popular studio will soon launch its own OTT platform called YRF Entertainment.
According to reports in Variety, the project will be allocated an initial investment of Rs.500 crore. Although it is likely to operate within the country, the platform could also curate content for Indian viewers in different parts of the globe.
Aditya Chopra currently serves as the managing director and chairman of the studios, succeeding his father and company founder Yash Chopra. The studio was founded in 1970.

Yash Raj Films are currently in a licensing deal with Amazon Prime Video. Under the deal the streaming giant has the rights to air the studios’ upcoming releases including Bunty Aur Babli 2 starring Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji; Ranbir Kapoor starrer Shamshera; the historical drama Prithviraj starring Akshay Kumar; and the Ranveer Singh starrer Jayeshbhai Jordaar.
Amazon Prime Video also streams several other YRF movie titles such as Darr, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,Silsila,Chandni, Dil To Pagal Hai,Thugs of Hindostan,War and Mardaani. Sources say that the launch of YRF’s new digital platform will not affect it’s deal with Amazon.
According to trade sources, Chopra wanted to use the platform to not only boost digital content in India but also to tell stories about the country which match global standards. The studios are reportedly already working on the scripts and strategy to roll them out.
Yash Raj Films has not publicly commented on the news.
