Yash: KGF vs Beast is not an election for people to fight; Prashant Neel: Can’t wait to see Vijay on the big screen

When the release date of KGF: Chapter 2 was announced eight months ago, the team had no idea that they would head into a box-office clash with any other biggie. But then, earlier this year, there were whispers that Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s film Beast would release around the same time. As industry experts predicted a box-office clash between these two biggies, the team of Vijay’s Beast remained quiet about an official announcement until last week, when it was finally confirmed that the film would indeed be in theatres on April 13, a day ahead of KGF: Chapter 2.

The announcement of Beast’s release, of course, sparked a Beast vs KGF fight on social media platforms, with fans of both stars claiming box-office victory over the other. Addressing this ‘clash of the titans’, Yash spoke at the trailer launch of KGF: Chapter 2 on Sunday, saying, “It’s KGF and Beast and not KGF vs Beast. This is not an election. In an election, everyone has just one vote and we had to fight over winning those votes. If one wins, the other should lose. This is cinema and people can watch both my film and his film. The moment I start thinking that I am bigger than my seniors, that’s when my downfall will start. All his (Vijay) fans will celebrate his movie and I am sure that all Vijay sir fans will also love our KGF. I will also watch Beast; let’s celebrate together.”

Shortly after the KGF: Chapter 2 trailer launch, Beast director Nelson Dilipkumar took to social media writing, “It’s massive and lit, can’t wait”, to which KGF maker Prashant Neel responded, “Thank you. Can’t wait to see Vijay sir on the big screen like I always do. All the best for Beast.”
