Yash: KGF-3 will not be my next film; I want to do something else before that

In the 7 months since the release of his last film, KGF: Chapter 2, the question on everyone’s mind has been, ‘What will Yash do next?’. It’s a question that he has chosen not to address with specifics, saying only that a script is in development and that an announcement will happen when the time is right. Prior to the release of KGF2, it had been reported that the Rocking Star was committed to a project with director Narthan (of Mufti fame), but following the massive success of the KGF sequel, multiple rumours began floating, including one of a collaboration with filmmaker Shankar. To add to this, Hombale Films founder Vijay Kiragandur jumped the gun and said that a third instalment in the KGF saga would also be in the works, stating that the team could go on floors by the end of 2022, once director Prashant Neel is done with Prabhas’ Salaar, which he is making for the production house. 

The fact that Yash has been maintaining his Rocky Bhai look from KGF, including the long locks and beard, gave credence to the theory that the actor would be doing KGF: Chapter 3 next, or that Salaar would have a pivotal cameo of his character. As of now, fans are hopeful that Yash will make an announcement about his next on his birthday, January 8. However, in the past, the actor has said that he is not a fan of birthday announcements. So, it remains to be seen if he will change that up for this most-awaited news. 

Last evening, on his first visit to Mumbai since the mega success of KGF 2, Yash was at a conclave by a major media house, where, yet again, he was asked what he would be doing next and if KGF-3 was indeed on the cards. “KGF-3 will happen, but not now, I want to do something else before that. There is a lot of news floating around. When I say it, that’s when the project will be announced. Rest of the things, I don’t want anybody to believe in it. I will come and tell when it is out,” he said at the conclave.
