Kollywood buffs were surprised when makers of Yaathisai left them stunned with its intriguing trailer. The movie is set in the 7th century and touches upon a fictional story revolving around a Pandya prince. Cinephiles couldn't stop comparing the movie's promo video with Mani Ratnam's big budget flick Ponniyin Selvan which was made in two parts.
Directed by Dharani Rajendran, the trailer was a compelling watch and viewers couldn't stop wondering what the crew would have made had they been backed by a leading production house. Interestingly, the film hit screens a week before Ponniyin Selvan 2.
Shakthi Mithran, Seyon, Rajalakshmi, Guru Somasundram and Chandrakumar among others have played crucial characters in the project which has been produced by KJ Ganesh. Akilesh Kathamuthu and Mahendran Ganesan have handled cinematography and editing respectively for the movie which has music by Chakravarthy.
Ranjith Kumar has handled art direction and Om Siva Prakash has choreographed impressive action portions in Yaathisai which opened to decent reviews from critics and moviegoers. The team has now come up with an update on its digital premiere.
Yaathisai is dropping on Amazon Prime Video on May 12. An official announcement has been made by the OTT giant now. The movie is still running in a few theatres in Chennai. Film lovers are wondering what made the makers agree for its OTT premiere after just three weeks of its theatrical release.
