Superstar Rajinikanth is in the news once again! This time around, for the actor's cult classic Baashha. The actor's iconic film, which was recently aired on Sun TV, has gone on to set a milestone as it has achieved the highest TVR (television ratings) at 11.79 and 9.48 million impressions! And this for a film that was released around 30 years ago. The gangster flick, featuring Rajinikanth, Raghuvaran and Nagma in the lead roles, was helmed by Suresh Krissna.
The plot revolves around a humble auto driver who loves to steer clear of violence, but has a hidden past which he hides from his siblings. Raghuvaran played the cult villain Mark Antony, and his character remains etched in the annals of Tamil cinema, as one of the most stylish but at the same time, wicked and dangerous villains ever. The film was a massive hit upon release and the digitally remastered version was later released in 2017. Music by Deva was a super hit, as well.
In the meantime, the Superstar is working on his upcoming film Jailer, which is helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Rajinikanth plays a jailer called Muthuvel Pandian in the film and the team had dropped a glimpse of the same on his birthday in December. The actor is currently shooting for the film in Mangalore and pictures of the actor on the flight have been doing the rounds on social media. The cast of Jailer includes Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Sunil, Tamanaaah, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi to name a few.
The actor had recently taken a break from shooting to attend the sadabhishekam of his elder brother Sathyanarayana Rao Gaikwad. However, the actor had to extend his break to pay his last respects to ace comedian and actor Mayilsamy, who recently passed away due to cardiac arrest.
