Wonderful World Episode 2 Story

The second episode of Kim Nam-joo-starrer Wonderful World picks up from where it left off in the last episode. After the brutal car accident, the story quickly moves to the ripple effects of Eun Soo-hyun's (Kim Nam-joo) impulsive revenge. This episode revolves around the courtroom drama and the family tragedy after Soo-hyun is sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment. It also gives a brief introduction to Kwon Sun-yool’s (Cha Eun-Woo) character and ends on an emotional note.

Wonderful World Episode 2 Review

The second episode opens with the intense court hearing of Soo-hyun, focussing on each of the main characters. Each and every scene is well-directed, and it piques the curiosity of viewers about the next sequence without deviating from its subject.

With frequent flashbacks, the narrative keeps travelling between the past and present timelines. From heartwarming moments with Soo-hyun, her husband Suho, and victim kid Guwoon, the episode is deeply immersed in emotions.

A large portion of Episode 2 is devoted to the prison life and Soo-hyun's adjustment to her tough life behind the bars. Several scenes are well-paced and executed with perfect timing such as the scene where Soo-hyun was doing daily prison chores like sewing. When she discovers the teddy pattern, she reminisces about the happy memories of her lost child, and the next scene shows the inmates howling and Soo-hyun's face and clothes are splattered with blood. It was truly a heart-shattering scene.

The episode also delves into the healing process, which is not easy for anyone without the right pillar of support. In the latest installment, it was Soo-hyun's elderly prison inmate who tried to bring the protagonist back to life.

This episode also hints at Soo-hyun's and Kwon Sun-yool's relationship, and it has a connection with their intertwined fates.

Wonderful World Episode 2 Verdict

This latest Disney+Hotstar K-drama is currently one of my favourites, not only because of its charismatic cast but also because of the layered narrative of emotional trauma and healing. A perfect drama to understand the hardships of life from the viewpoint of the troubled protagonist. However, before you delve into this journey, carry your tissues!
