After the fantasy action-thriller Bright, Hollywood star Will Smith has once again teamed up with Netflix, this time for something right up his alley! The Men in Black star will host and executive produce an upcoming comedy special for the streaming service.
Netflix revealed the news on Thursday night on their social media handles. “Will Smith will host and star in a variety comedy special (his first-ever!) for Netflix,” read the post.
According to the streamer, the hour-long special will include celebrity guests, noteworthy conversations, comedic sketches, musical performances and more. Considering that he had teamed up with wife Jada Pinkett-Smith for the four seasons of Red Table Talk, a talk show that gave revealing insights into their relationship, we know how well the actor can carry a conversation. The comedy special is expected to drop to launch later this year.
Smith, meanwhile, is also working on a YouTube original series, which is slated to release in 2022. The six-episode series, which is tentatively titled Best Shape of My Life, focuses on the actor finding “himself in middle age, rebuilding his body into the best shape of his life and getting his groove back along the way,” according to an official YouTube announcement.
The actor had taken to his Instagram to share the news a month ago along with a photo to show how he has been out of shape lately. “I’m gonna be real wit yall - I’m in the worst shape of my life (sic)," wrote the actor, who was last seen in Bad Boys 4 Life. He is also set to produce the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot titled Bel-Air.
