Kushi, the romantic comedy starring Pawan Kalyan and Bhumika Chawla, directed by SJ Suryah, is one of the most celebrated films in Telugu cinema in the 2000s. It was a milestone project for many involved with it - including the lead stars, director and the composer Mani Sharma. Cashing in on the trend of re-releases, the blockbuster is all set to hit theatres again later this December.
A report by 123Telugu.com suggests Kushi will release yet again in theatres on December 31 and is expected to last a week, until January 6, 2023. The news has sent the star’s fans into a tizzy, who’re salivating at the prospect of watching the iconic film on the big screen again. The film, also starring Ali, Sivaji, Vijay Kumar, Nasser and Sudhakar, was produced by AM Ratnam under Sri Surya Movies.
The film revolves around Siddhu and Madhu, who, while helping their friends with their relationship, fall in love. However, their romance is marred by a series of misunderstandings owing to their egos. Leading cinematographer PC Sreeram had cranked the camera for the project which had dialogues by Rajendra Kumar. Pawan Kalyan choreographed the action sequences himself. An official announcement about the re-release is expected tomorrow.
Other actors in the film include Janaki Sabesh, Sudha, Mumtaz, Ajay, Fish Venkat and Rajan P Dev, to name a few. This was among the rare films where the remake performed much better than the original. Kushi was a remake of the Tamil film by the same name that starred Vijay, Jyothika in lead roles, also directed by SJ Suryah. Deva had scored the music for the Tamil version.
Incidentally, another film of the actress, Bhumika Chawla, Okkadu is gearing up for a re-release in the first week of January 2023. Okkadu also re-released in theatres for a couple of days in 2022 as well, commemorating Mahesh Babu’s birthday and registered impressive collections. Two other Pawan Kalyan films released in theatres in 2022, including Jalsa and Thammudu.
