Nelson Dilipkumar’s 2023 blockbuster Jailer, which shattered several records, earned praise from viewers and critics from all over the country. Earlier, Nelson had announced that he is once again set to reunite with Thalaivar Rajinikanth, who played Muthuvel Pandian in the film, for its sequel and the director has reportedly kickstarted the scripting works for the film. Actress Mirnaa Menon, who played the role of Muthuvel Pandian’s daughter-in-law in Jailer, shared some insights about the ambitious sequel. The actress, who has been promoting her upcoming film Birthmark, was asked about the updates about Jailer 2 during a promotional interview. Responding to the question, the actress stated that too learnt about Jailer 2 through the director’s announcement.  

 “I spoke to him (Nelson) when the announcement happened. He revealed that he’s happy and excited about kickstarting the project. However, I did not inquire about my character in the film. I think it's a director’s creative freedom whether to cast me or not”, revealed Mirnaa. She added, “I think whether or not my character needs to be extended or not is purely his discussion as a filmmaker. But if I get the opportunity to be part of the film again, I will gladly accept it.” 

Mirnaa’s next film Birthmark gears up for release

Meanwhile, the actress’ upcoming film Birthmark will hit the big screens on February 23 (tomorrow). Directed by debutant Vikram Shreedharan, Birthmarks stars Shabeer Kallarakkal and Mirnaa Menon in lead roles along with PR Varalakshmi, Indirajith, Porkodi, and Deepthie playing pivotal roles.

Going by the trailer, the film is set to revolve around a pregnant couple who arrive at a natural birthing village but find something off about the place. Music director Vishal Chandrashekhar of Sita Ramam and Oh Manapenne-fame will be composing music for this drama thriller. The technical crew of the film also consists of Udhay Thangavel as the cinematographer and Iniyavan Pandiyan handling the editing department with Anusuya Vasudevan writing the additional screenplay of the film. Sapiens Entertainment has bankrolled the project.
