It’s been well over two years since Kannada cinema’s Action Prince Dhruva Sarja has had a release. Pogaru, which came out in February 2021 was his last and he was supposed to collaborate with director Nandakishore again for a film to be produced by Uday Mehta. To be called Dubaari with Sreeleela paired opposite Dhruva, this film, though, did not take off, and Uday, instead, got the actor to reunite with AP Arjun, who launched him more than a decade ago with Addhuri. Based on a story written by Dhruva’s uncle, Action King Arjun Sarja, the film, Martin, is a big budget action flick, in which he is paired with Vaibhavi Shandilya and Anveshi Jain.

The film had initially been announced as a September 30, 2022 release, and would have clashed with Kantara and Ponniyin Selvan 1, but delays in production meant that the team had to bow out of this race. After that, the team had tried for an end of March 2023 release, but that didn’t happen either, after which they stopped making announcements. Director Arjun had said told us that he will plan the release only after the film is complete. Speaking to us about a month ago, the filmmaker had said that post-production work on the film was on in full swing and that only three songs were pending. However, since Dhruva had lost a lot of the weight he had gained for Martin, the team needed him to bulk up again and now that he is on a schedule break from his next, KD-The Devil, he is apparently working on getting back in Martin shape.

According to the latest, team Martin is looking at scheduling the song shoots in July, after which they will have clarity on when the film can be brought to theatres. At the moment, the team is eyeing a festive Dasara outing in October this year, which was the initial plan.
