National Award-winning actor Anupam Kher, who plays the title role in Shiv Shastri Balboa, says that he feels emotional every time he sees himself on the poster of the film as a hero. The actor revealed this at the trailer launch of the film on Tuesday, where he was present along with his co-stars Neena Gupta, Nargis Fakhri and Sharib Hashmi.
Anupam said, "It is important for artists to be a part of films that they believe in and also those that run in theatres. As an actor, you may desire to be part of a film that mentally stimulates you, but people also have to watch it. For 38 years and more, I only have seen my face in some corner of a film's poster, going almost unnoticed. Today, when I was coming to this event, I saw that my face is prominent as the hero of Shiv Shastri Balboa, alongside my heroine, Neena. It took me 38 years to get here, but it has happened! This is an achievement for me."
The actor went on to add, "I think that everything that I and Neena have achieved is a result of our talent and hard work, and not necessarily stardom. In the last 38 years, I have seen stars coming and going, but hard work stays forever."
Set in the USA, Shiv Shastri Balboa revolves around two elderly people who deal an extraordinary situation, giving their lives a second chance.
Written and directed by Ajayan Venugopalan, and produced by Kishore Varieth, the film also stars Jugal Hansraj, Anil Joseph and Alison Corriere, among others. It releases in theatres on February 10.
