Abishek Ambareesh is quite excited about November 24, when his second feature film, Bad Manners, hits theatres. There is some expectation surrounding the project because it is a Duniya Suri directorial and that he would have done justice to the film that is being seen as Abishek’s relaunch, after his disastrous debut with 2019’s Amar. Bad Manners, according to the actor is a film that he’s given his all, in terms of effort, if not more. It’s a film that’s been made with a lot of love by the entire cast and crew, which, he hopes, audiences will appreciate and celebrate. The idea, he says, was to ensure that the film works not only for him, but for the entire team, including the producer.

Speaking to a Kannada digital publication as part of the promotions of the film, Abishek was asked about whether Bad Manners would fall in the commercial cinema category. Now, commercial cinema is a term used in film parlance as one that has certain elements – like drama, romance, comedy and mass action blocks – that appeals to a wide section of audience. Abishek disagrees, arguing that commercial cinema should be a term used to describe a movie that has had good financial returns, like, for instance, Kantara. Commercial, he reckons, is the end result and that, as far as Bad Manners is concerned, depends on audiences when the film opens on November 24.

Working on the film was a major learning experience for the actor, as Suri wanted to portray his artistes as naturally as possible on screen. Suri, says Abishek, does not expect his actors to act; instead, he’d want them to react to a certain situation the way they’d do in real life. Being natural on a film set, though, is the hardest part, given the sheer number of people around, the various sound disturbances, etc., explains Abishek. The output that Suri got is what makes Bad Manners a good watch, reckons the actor.
