Even while awaiting the release of his upcoming action entertainer Bholaa Shankar on August 11, Chiranjeevi is continuing to enjoy the fruits of his earlier success Waltair Veerayya. The film, directed by Bobby Kolli and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, that released in screens worldwide this January 13, opened to impressive reviews and broke several box offic e records, completed its 200-day theatrical run (in select centres) recently.
Commemorating its victorious run, the cast and crew came together for a gathering recently where shields were gifted to the team. Besides director Bobby Kolli, the lead stars Chiranjeevi, Ravi Teja the event featured several names associated with the film, namely the producers Y Ravi Shankar, Naveen Yerneni, actors Praveen, Srinivas Reddy, Bobby Simha, writer Kona Venkat, stunt director duo Ram-Laxman and costume designer Sushmita Konidela.
Other leading directors in the industry - Harish Shankar, Gopichand Malineni, Buchi Babu Sana - graced the event as well. Despite releasing amidst lower expectations in comparison to Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy this Sankranthi, Waltair Veerayya trumped all box office predictions and proved to be a genuine crowd puller across Telugu states and the US. Devi Sri Prasad’s music - songs like Boss Party, Poonakalu Loading - was a rage with listeners.
A set of RAW officers catch hold of a feared criminal Solomon Ceaser(Bobby Simha), who’s locked in a jail. However, he kills the officers and flees to Malaysia. The cops take help from Waltair Veerayya(Chiranjeevi) to bring Solomon back to India. Beyond the mission, Veerayya has a specific reason behind agreeing to this idea. Nassar, Sathyaraj, Rajendra Prasad, Prakash Raj, Catherine Tresa, Saptagiri, Shakalaka Shankar, Pradeep Rawat, Motta Rajendran, Manobala, Prabhas Sreenu essayed crucial roles as well in the film which had cinematography by Arthur A Wilson. Niranjan Devaramane was the editor of the project. The film was extensively shot in Hyderabad, Vizag and Malaysia.
