Seasoned Telugu star Venkatesh Daggubati's Saindhav was one of the four new releases to kick start the new year at the Tollywood box office. We can now officially confirm that the streaming rights of this movie have been bagged by Amazon Prime Video.

Earlier, speculations were rife that Saindhav would start streaming on ETV Win following the end of its theatrical run. But, ETV only seems to have obtained the movie's satellite rights, while the streaming rights lie with Amazon Prime Video.

According to the current industry practices, Saindhav might arrive at the streaming after completing a four-week run in theatres. It's safe to assume that the film might become available for streaming by the Valentine's Week in February. An official confirmation on the same is awaited.

Saindhav's opening at the box office

Saindhav was released in cinemas on Saturday to avoid a direct clash with Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's Guntur Kaaram and director Prashanth Varma's HanuMan starring Teja Sajja.

This Sankranti festival the theatre owners in the Telugu states had a tough time to allot screens with the simultaneous release of four high-profile movies. So much so that Telugu star Ravi Teja's Eagle had to postpone the release due to the mad rush at the box office.

Between Gunturm Kaaram and HanuMan, Saindhav received a very underwhelming opening at the box office. However, it remains to be seen whether it will strike a chord with the audiences after the initial craze for the other two releases subsides.

Director Sailesh Kolanu, who is known for the investigate thriller movie series HIT, has written and directed Saindhav. Judging from the trailer, it seems the narrative centres on a reformed criminal, who has now become a devoted family man. He seems to be well-adjuted and content taking care of his daughter and finding joy in the little things in life. However, he's forced to go back into the underbelly of the underworld, seemingly to raise money to fund an expensive medical treatment for his dying daughter.

Besides Venkatesh, Saindhav also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Arya, Andrea Jeremiah, Shraddha Srinath, Baby Sara and Ruhani Sharma.
