What is Where is Marta about?
Where is Marta is a true crime documentary series which revolves around the case of the disappearance of Marta del Castillo, a Spanish high school student, in 2009.
Castillo had left her home on the evening of January 24, 2009. Telling her parents that she was going to see her friends, she actually had gone to see her ex-boyfriend 19-year old Miguel Carcaño Delgado, of whom her parents did not approve of. When the teenager did not return home that night, her family informed the police.
The series includes accounts of the teenager’s friends and family which provides a deeper look at her case and the events that followed it.
Was the case of Castillo’s disappearance ever solved?
Delgado confessed to the murder of his ex- girlfriend upon questioning by the police. He told authorities that he and Castillo had gotten into an argument the night of her disappearance, regarding his new girlfriend. In a fit of rage, Delgado had hit Castillo over the head with an ashtray and then disposed of the body in the Guadalquivir River. Although he was convicted of murder, Delgado had changed the details of his testimony several times.
Even after intense searches, Castillo’s body had never been found.
