When The Stars Gossip was one of the most-awaited K-dramas. The popular actor Lee Min-ho made a comeback to the TV series after 5 five-year gap. His last show, ‘King: The Eternal Monarch’, was a massive hit and one of the most-watched K-dramas on Netflix worldwide. The first episode of When The Stars Gossip dropped on January 4 on Netflix and it is earning praise already. The series also stars Gong Hyo-jin in the female lead role. The first episode of When The Stars Gossip begins with Lee Min-ho as Gong Ryong going on a space mission with Gong Hyo-jin's Eve Kim and one more astronaut. He is professionally an obstetrician at MZ Medical Center. He is the 'birthing king' as he delivers babies. The center paid 70 million won to include him in the space mission. The moment the spacecraft G.O.-10 takes off and reaches space, Ryong starts feeling uneasy and recalls his past days as he thinks he will die. Then the series takes us to the flashback.
Gong Ryong's mother died right after giving him birth. He was raised by his three aunties. He was a high school student who scored a perfect score on the CSAT and ended up becoming a poor doctor at the MZ Medical Center. His fun-loving attitude literally will melt your heart while his serious and sad look will also impress you and prove why he is one of a kind.
It shows that he comes across the daughter of the chairman of the center, Choi Go-eun (Han Ji-eun). They meet in a slight road accident and moments after Ryong learns that Go-eun is bleeding. He takes her to the hospital and discovers that she has an Ectopic pregnancy for which she needs immediate surgery without which she might lose her life. She also expresses her hate towards Kang Kang-su (Oh Jung-se). Go-eun tells him that no one should know about her surgery, however, his father, Chairman Choi Jae-ryong gets to know it and fires Gong Ryong from the center. After this, he begins drinking as he has no job. One day, Go-eun meets him and they explore a romantic relationship.
Lee Min-ho as a space tourist already begins to grab attention from the first episode. The episode then shows Eve trying hard to get Gong Ryong's consciousness back. Moments later, he gets back his consciousness. During the process, Eve hurt her toes and they were bleeding. Seeing this, Ryong insists on doing a small surgery. Even though it was just the first episode, their chemistry started to explore. It will be exciting to see them going through ups and downs in their relationship.
The episode also hints at Gong Ryong going on a secret mission to space and it is yet to be unfolded. However, it shows on the news channel that he will study human sperm activity to unravel genetic mysteries hidden by our planet's gravity in collaboration with researchers on Earth. But for what reason? Only time will tell.
The first episode has built enough anticipation and it will be exciting to see what Lee Min-ho's Gong Ryong and Gong Hyo-jin's Eve Kim have stored for us in the rest of the episodes as they are yet to explore the spaceship romance.
