It's been a little over a decade since the release of Priyanka Chopra's film, Saath Khoon Maaf. The film, which is now available to stream on Netflix, received several accolades across India, especially for Chopra's performance as an Anglo-Indian woman in a quest for pure love. The film, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, also features Vivaan Shah, John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Irrfan Khan, Alexander Dyachenko, Annu Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and Usha Uthup in supporting roles.

The film marked the second collaboration between Chopra and Annu Kapoor. The two had earlier worked in the film, Aitraaz, which also starred Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan. However, things did not go down well with them after Saath Khoon Maaf. During the promotions of the film in 2011, Priyanka Chopra and Annu Kapoor crossed swords, which made several headlines during the time. The two actors, who are known to speak their minds, were in a war of words due to their scenes in the film. The tiff between the two has left them miffed with each other.

Annu Kapoor, who made his debut in 1983, plays the role of an inspector and one of Priyanka's character's husbands in the 2012 dark film. The actor had said that Chopra refused to do an intimate scene with him. This irked Chopra and she quickly responded to his comment, telling a publication that she had read what he said about her. "If he wants to do intimate scenes and pass such cheap comments, then he should do those kind of films. Such scenes were never part of our film," she had said. When the senior actor was approached for a comment by the same publication, he said he 'never uttered a single word against Priyanka.' The actor was quoted by the publication as saying, 'When I’m asked about my feelings about playing her husband, I have said that people will judge my performance on merit rather than based on whether I’m playing husband to Priyanka or Meryl Streep. I may be a character artiste, but I’m an artiste with character. My elderly advice to Priyanka: ‘Beta, don’t take all this too seriously.'

The film Saath Khoon Maaf is an adaptation of the short story Susanna's Seven Husbands by Ruskin Bond. On Bharadwaj's request, Bond developed the four-page story into an 80-page novella, which Bharadwaj turned into a script, along with Matthew Robbins. The film is now available for a watch on Netflix.
