Nayanthara has been making headlines for multiple reasons lately. Her new documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale, is now streaming on Netflix, where she has also called out star hero Dhanush for not cooperating regarding a few clips from his film Naan Rowdy Dhaan to be featured in the documentary.

Amid all this, the documentary sheds light on the challenges Nayanthara faced during the making of Sri Rama Rajyam with Balakrishna in 2011. Nayanthara reveals that ever since the film was announced, there was a significant uproar in the media about her playing the role of Sita.

At the time, she was in a public relationship with Prabhu Deva, which drew criticism and led to intense scrutiny. She recalls how even her producers faced pressure to replace her but chose to stand by her. Despite staying in a luxury hotel during the shoot, Nayanthara says she chose not to eat hotel food and turned vegetarian as a mark of dedication to the role.

"Sri Rama Rajyam was an emotional film for me, and I decided it would be my last. The person I was in love with asked me to stop working after that film. I was already dealing with so much pressure from the man I wanted to marry regarding my career. I still remember breaking down on the last day of the shoot, unleashing all the pressure I had bottled up," shares Nayanthara.

Fortunately, Sri Rama Rajyam became a massive success, but her relationship with Prabhu Deva ended, leaving her in a dark phase for nearly two years. "Those two years were the most painful of my life. Everyone I met suggested I quit acting and get married. That’s when I decided to fight back, rebuild my career, and come back stronger," Nayanthara states.

The Netflix documentary showcases Nayanthara’s journey in the film industry, her struggles and triumphs, and how she eventually found love with Vignesh Shivan. It also offers a glimpse into her current, fulfilling life with her husband and their two children.
