It’s the new year and there are plenty of exciting titles to be released across streaming platforms in the month of January. Sam Bahadur - 26th Jan
Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal slips into the role of the legendary Sam Manekshaw, India’s first Field Marshal, in the 2023 film Sam Bahadur. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the acclaimed biographical film explores the life of the decorated soldier, and it also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra in prominent roles. The film will be released on the 26th of January.

Australian Open 14th Jan - 28th Jan
The first Grand Slam of the year is fast approaching with the best tennis stars from around the world arriving in Melbourne for the Australian Open. The veteran Serb Novak Djokovic is on the hunt for an unprecedented 11th Australian Open and a 25th Grand Slam.
Defending Women’s champion Aryna Sabalenka will face stiff competition from the relentless World no.1 Iga Świątek and last year’s runner-up Elena Rybakina. While a returning Naomi Osaka could cause a few upsets.
Indian veteran and last year’s US Open Doubles finalist Rohan Bopanna will be eying yet another memorable run at a Grand Slam. While fellow Indian Sumit Nagal enters the Singles main draw – the first Indian to do so in a Grand Slam since 2021.
The first round of the Australian Open will commence on January 14th at 5:30 am, and it will conclude with the Men’s Final a fortnight later on the 28th.
WWE Royal Rumble - 28th Jan
WWE superstars are gearing up for the first pay-per-view of the year with the Royal Rumble. Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, CM Punk, Randy Orton, and L A Knight will enter the Men’s Rumble for a chance to main event Wrestlemania for the World title.
Becky Lynch and Bayley are the front-runners to win the Women’s Rumble this year, but there could be a few surprise entries in the form of returning former stars such as A J Lee, Naomi, and Sasha Banks. The road to Wrestlemania begins with the Royal and it will be live on the 28th of Jan.
Bodies Bodies Bodies - 25th Jan
The slasher comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies, tells the story of a group of friends in their 20s who decide to party at an abandoned mansion. The party quickly takes a turn when a dead body shows up. The critically acclaimed film stars Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova, Myha'la Herrold, Lee Pace, and Pete Davidson among others, and it is directed by Halina Reijn.

The Pianist - 12th Jan
The multiple Oscar-winning 2002 film, The Pianist, is a captivating drama about a Polish-Jewish pianist who is separated from his family during the Holocaust. The biographical drama film is helmed by controversial filmmaker Roman Polanski, based on the memoir by Władysław Szpilman. Adrien Brody delivers an Academy Award-winning performance as the lead in the film. The critically acclaimed World War II drama will be available to stream on 12th January.
The Contractor - 19th Jan
The 2022 action film The Contractor features a star-studded ensemble of Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Karen Gillian, and Kiefer Sutherland among others. The plot revolves around a former US Special Forces sergeant who is on the run from his new employer, a private military company. After being betrayed by someone within the company, he stumbles on a dangerous conspiracy. You can watch the Tarik Saleh directorial on the 19th of January.
The Piper - 26th Jan
The 2023 horror film The Piper or one of the last films of late British actor Julian Sands before his tragic and untimely death last year. Helmed by Erlingur Thoroddsen, the plot revolves around a young composer, whose late mentor’s concerto unleashes an evil force. The film stars Charlotte Hope in the lead, with Oliver Savell and Kate Nichols joining Sands in other prominent roles.
