What? Not Kareena Kapoor Khan, but Saif Ali Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were Sujoy Ghosh's first choices for Jaane Jaan

Sujoy Ghosh has unveiled the trailer of his upcoming film, Jaane Jaan. Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is playing the main lead in the film, is currently receiving applauds for her role. What if we tell you that she was not even the original choice for the film? Sujoy made the revelation during the trailer launch. Upon further investigation, we got to know that the movie was originally supposed to star Saif Ali Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles.

When were Saif and Aishwarya roped in?

Sujoy revealed that Saif was a part of the film and later, it went to Kareena. Bebo then recalled how it is almost a decade now that the movie was being made. Not many remember this but back in 2015, Aishwarya had confirmed the film. She had said that she has signed The Devotion of Suspect X with Sujoy Ghosh. However, unfortunately, almost a decade later, she is not associated with the film.

Aishwarya had told Bollywood Hungama that she had signed two movies with Sujoy Ghosh. “I’ve agreed to do Sujoy’s Durga Rani and the screen adaptation of Keigo Huganshino’s Japanese novel The Devotion Of Suspect X. I don’t know which one he will start first,” she was quoted saying. None of the films featured her.

What is Durga Rani?

Durga Rani was also helmed by Sujoy Ghosh as Kahaani 2. The film featured Vidya Balan, of Kahaani, in the lead role. Durga Rani was a different project back then but Sujoy decided that since the story is similar to Kahaani, he would like to release it as a sequel to the hit film.

What is Jaane Jaan?

Jaane Jaan is the adaptation of the Japanese bestselling novel, The Devotion of Suspect X. The movie features Kareena Kapoor in the lead role with Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma as the male leads. The film will release on Netflix on September 21.
