One film that has been in the mainstream headlines for over a week now is Akshay Kumar-led Welcome To The Jungle aka Welcome 3. First for the pending dues of Welcome 2 that producer Firoz Nadiadwala has been ordered to clear by FWICE, then the film going on floors, Shreyas Talpade suffering a heart attack, and the many BTS videos that have gone viral on the internet. If the latest update on the film is to go by, it seems like Welcome 3 with Phir Hera Pheri 3 has now hit a roadblock, with Jio Studios now backing out of both projects.
What Exactly Happened:
Jio Studios was co-producing both movies with Firoz Nadiadwala and things were all smooth until the pending wages episode took over. As per the latest reports, the issues around finances have been happening between both studies ever since Welcome To The Jungle was announced. The pending debt for Firoz, which is yet unpaid, has raised concerns for Jio Studios. Because of all of the legalities and the pending litigation, Jio decided to take a back seat on Welcome 3.
The details have been revealed by a trade source, as per Bollywood Hungama. The deal between Jio Studios and Firoz Nadiadwala was mediated by Akshay Kumar. "Akshay is still making efforts to be the peacemaker in resolving the conflicts. If things get better, Jio might take back the seat again, but at the moment, Jio is out. If one notices, there is no logo of Jio on the clapboard of Welcome To The Jungle and that's due to the decision to part ways. The studio has taken a back seat from both Welcome 3 and Hera Pheri 3," the source said.
"Firoz and Akshay are confident in finding another studio or resolving all disputes around Welcome to the Jungle to get Jio back on board before starting a new schedule in February,” the source concluded. Welcome 3 has already gone on floors and the team has even completed a schedule in Mumbai. They are expecting to begin next in February 2024.
About Hera Pheri 3 and Welcome 3
However, Hera Pheri 3 was just confirmed and nothing about it was reported after that. There is no shoot commencement date or release window attached to it. Meanwhile, Welcome To The Jungle stars an entire cast of actors, including Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Disha Patani, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, and many more, and is set to release on the big screen during Christmas 2024.
