The Tata family is one of the most influential and powerful business families in the country, with their business empire extending its reach in some of the most prominent sectors in the economy. The story of how their prominent position is about to be explored in an upcoming series, from the makers of the 2020 MXPlayer drama Mastram, which starred Anshuman Jha in the lead.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, Almighty Motion Picture, the banner behind Mastram has secured the rights to the book The Tatas: How A Family Built A Business and A Nation. Written by journalist Girish Kuber, the book traces the history of the Tata family, right from the story of Nusserwanji Tata, the father of Tata group founder Jamsetji Tata.

The book sheds light on how the Tata empire grew from an ordinary business venture to a multinational business conglomerate. Some of the important figureheads of the Tata family at present include Tata Group owner Ratan Tata and Tata Investment Corporation chairperson Noel Tata. Some other notable figures of the family include Dorabji Tata, JRD and Ratanji Tata.

The production house is planning to adapt the book into a multi-season series that is expected to consist of at least three seasons. Writing and research of the show had already begun and the cast of the same would be finalised only after completion of the script. The makers will reportedly try to rope in well-known actors to lead the series’ cast. Production on the show is expected to kick off by the end of the year.
