Trisha Krishnan has joined the sets of Tovino Thomas’ upcoming Malayalam action thriller, Identity. The Minnal Murali star shared a new video featuring the Leo actress joining him for their film. Tovino shared the video on Instagram with the caption, “Delighted to welcome the ever charming @trishakrishnan into the gripping world of IDENTITY. An @akhilpaul_ @anaskhan_offcl Movie! Finishing up a gritty action set piece together right now.. and eagerly waiting to get into the sets for more intense shoots! Keep those fingers crossed, guys..#IDENTITYLoading” (sic).
From the first look at the new video, it appears that Trisha and Tovino will offer a stylish action drama for audiences. Trisha, whose was last seen in an intense avatar in The Road, impressed fans with her performance. But her role in this film raises a lot of questions, mostly about whether we would get to see the 96 star in a complete action avatar. This would certainly be something new, considering that the actress has mostly been seen in soft roles. It goes without saying that we are eager to see what Trisha has in store for audiences.
Touted to be a suspense-packed action thriller, Tovino plays an intense role in the movie. However, more details about his character are yet to be revealed by the makers of the film.
About Identity
Akhil Paul and Anas Khan have directed and penned the screenplay for the film. In an interview with OTTplay, Akhil revealed that the movie is not a spy thriller and does not have any connection with their previous investigative thriller, Forensic.
Kollywood actress Trisha plays the female lead in the thriller, which also stars Vinay Rai and Bollywood actress Mandira Bedi in other pivotal roles. Akhil had also mentioned that all four central characters—played by Tovino, Trisha, Mandira and Vinay—have a connection to the film’s theme of 'identity' from their own different perspectives.
As per reports, the makers are planning to wrap up the shooting of Identity by March 2024. The thriller is expected to hit theatres by the second half of 2024 and will be dubbed in all languages—Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
Tovino Thomas’ upcoming projects
Tovino has an impressive lineup for 2024. He is awaiting the release of the period drama Ajayante Randam Moshanam (ARM), in which he has three roles. He is joined by Krithi Shetty, Basil Joseph, Surabhi Lakshmi and Aishwarya Rajesh in director Jithin Lal's film. Tovino has also wrapped up shooting for Lal Jr’s Nadikar Thilakam and will also be starring in Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan.
