In the first season, throughout the six episodes set in Darjeeling, Juhi, portrayed by Huma, assumes the role of a Hindi literature professor, constantly facing conflicts with her student Rhea, played by Avantika Dassani. What begins as a classroom dispute quickly escalates into a toxic psychological battle between the two ladies, which in turn causes tragic outcomes and unexpected disclosures.
The series debuted in 2022 and featured Avantika, who made her acting debut in the show. Samir Soni, Parambrata Chatterjee, and Rajit Kapur all played significant parts as well. Producers of Mithya have been tight-lipped about the show's second season's narrative.
Mithya is the official Hindi adaptation of the British series Cheat.
Earlier, while talking about the response to the series, Huma said in a statement, "The response to Mithya and to my character of Juhi Adhikari has been overwhelming. I had a feeling when we started working on this project that we were onto something big, but looking at the love and the response has me smiling and feeling immense gratitude. Juhi Adhikari will stay with me forever, and I hope for people who have watched the series that the character stays with them too, as she isn’t someone you can easily dismiss or forget. Mithya was a gratifying experience, and I am thankful to the fans for their love and support."
Avantika added, "I have been overwhelmed by the welcoming response and touched by the love pouring in. I knew I was making a risky choice and taking on quite the challenge, but it has paid off in ways I couldn’t imagine. I’m incredibly grateful and excited and hope that more people watch our show, Mithya."
