The addition of boxing legend Mike Tyson to the cast of Liger caused quite a stir in India's popular culture. However, it appears that Tyson was unaware of his part in the Vijay Deverakonda-starrer back in Las Vegas.
There is a video from a podcast that was undoubtedly recorded by Hotboxin online. When speaking with Tyson, the boxer appears to be under the influence since he is speaking freely and without restraints. He is asked about his role in Liger during the conversation. The pal remarks that he heard Tyson is getting back into comedy flicks. A confused-looking Tyson replied that he didn't know and asked to read it back to him and tell him about it.
They all search for the movie Liger to learn more about the Indian premiere of Tyson's film. When the legendary boxer explained that the animal is a hybrid of a lion and a tiger, someone inquired, "What is a liger?" They continued to argue about the liger's physical characteristics and social abilities as the topic of conversation kept coming back to the beast.
One of Tyson's friends also questions whether he can defeat a liger. Tyson responded, "No way," putting an end to the notion. He also says that it will kill him in two seconds. Tyson commented while seeing a video of a liger tribe and said that lions ain't that swift.
After another minute passes, the group finally decides to view the trailer for the movie Liger. As the first teaser for the film wasn’t accessible until December 2021, they ended up viewing a fan-made trailer. It takes them some time to realise that the teaser was phoney. The entire sequence where Tyson and his friends speculate about Liger seems to have been lifted from a Hollywood stoner low-budget film.
It's safe to presume that the podcast was recorded at the very beginning of the project. The film's lead actors, Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Pandey, the former heavyweight boxing champion, joined the Liger set in November to begin filming. The filmmakers had already made public the behind-the-scenes footage from the Tyson shoot in Las Vegas. The legendary boxer was spotted displaying a great deal of affection towards Deverakonda.
Thursday saw the release of Liger, and the Puri Jagannadh-written-and-directed movie has received unfavourable reviews from critics.
