Manoj and his wife both came in limelight after 12th Fail became popular. This is especially because of a scene featuring Vikrant and his on-screen lover, played by Medha Shankar.
Was Manoj Kumar paid for the film?
Since the movie was inspired from his life, Manoj Kumar could have been paid for 12th Fail. However, at the recently held ABP Conclave, he revealed that he was indeed not paid anything for the movie. He thanked Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the director and producer of the movie, to tell his story, thus making him popular.
What Manoj said on not being paid
Manoj said that he doesn’t ask for money or even expect monetary benefits. “I am a totally honest person about these matters, and I am as I was at the time of selection,” he said, adding that his wife Shraddha Joshi Sharma is exactly the same. He is happy with the reward, that is his students sending him texts, aiming to achieve as much honesty as him.
