Wamiqa Gabbi is on a spree to sign new movies after Baby John's release. The actress recently joined Adivi Sesh and Emraan Hashmi in G2. And now, it has been reported that the actress is likely to star opposite Ranveer Singh in his next film with Minnal Murali director Basil Joseph. If this materializes, Wamiqa will reunite with Basil after their Malayalam 2017 film Godha. According to a news report, the actress is the frontrunner to play the female lead in Joseph's superhero film.

As per the Mid-Day report, Basil Joseph's upcoming superhero film is rumoured to be a Bollywood adaptation of Shaktimaan. About the potential of Wamiqa Gabbi signing the film, a source said, "She has been garnering attention for her versatile performances in Hindi and regional cinema and is also rumoured to be signing a Telugu project opposite Nani. Currently, it’s all dialogue, but if the film materializes, the pairing of Wamiqa and Ranveer in Basil’s film would add fresh energy to the project that has been in the works for five years now."
The source mentioned that the film is in its early stages and the pre-production is underway. Basil is reportedly conducting readings and meetings with Ranveer in Mumbai. Things will be finalized only when the script is completed and the final dates are worked out.
"[Until then], Ranveer is busy wrapping up Aditya Dhar’s spy film. He will shift focus on [the superhero film] only after March," the source added.

On the work front, Wamiqa Gabbi made her Bollywood debut with Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met in 2007. The actress played the role of Kareena Kapoor Khan's cousin in the film. She later featured in Hind films like Mausam, Bittoo Boss, 83, Khufiya, and Baby John. She might be seen in Akshay Kumar's Bhoot Bangla.
