Bollywood actress Wamiqa Gabbi, who has had a stellar 2023 with Jubilee, Modern Love Chennai and Khufiya, is set to return to Malayalam film industry after a gap of four years with Asif Ali’s Tiki Taka.

Wamiqa’s debut Malayalam film was Tovino Thomas’ Godha, which was helmed by Minnal Murali director Basil Joseph. She was also part of a Malayalam music video that was helmed by Ajayante Randam Moshanam director Jithin Laal. Incidentally, Tiki Taka is directed by Rohith VS, whose previous film was Kala that had starred Tovino in the lead.

The shoot of Tiki Taka was on in Kochi earlier this month, when its lead actor Asif Ali had met with an injury during filming. The film, much like Wamiqa’s debut Malayalam movie Godha, is an impetus on action.

While Godha had her as a wrestler, the makers have not yet revealed the extent of her character’s role in the action scenes of Tiki Taka, which is touted to have 12 stunt sequences. Apart from Wamiqa, who was also part of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s 9 in 2019, the film also has Naslen, Sanchana Natarajan, Harishree Ashokan and Lukman Avaran as part of the cast.

Tiki Taka has action, fun and fantasy: Rohith VS

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, the film’s director Rohith, who had previously teamed up with Asif in Adventures of Omanakuttan and Ibilis, told us that the movie is an action entertainer that has a frenetic pace and energy.

Asif, in fact, had put on muscles to play the lead character of Denver in the movie that also has elements of fantasy weaved into it. “The movie’s plot progresses through multi-character conflicts,” said Rohith.

Meanwhile, Asif is also set to collaborate with The Priest director Jofin T Chacko for his upcoming movie, which is set to go on floors in February 2024.
