Wamiqa Gabbi is now living out her lifelong ambition with Baby John, which is to star in a Hindi film. The actor says that her co-star Varun Dhawan helped ease her into shooting director Kalees' massive action flick.

Varun Dhawan's support and infectious enthusiasm on set

In an interview with Mid Day, Gabbi stated that a contagious enthusiasm radiates from Dhawan. As soon as one sets foot on the set, Dhawan is already there, making everyone laugh, boosting morale, or simply making them feel at home. Because of him, one can relax and be authentic. Gabbi asserted that Dhawan demonstrates the value of authenticity in a field that consistently strives for perfection. Her smile betrays her admiration for the unique and lovely characteristic.

A remake of Atlee's Tamil smash, Theri (2016), the Christmas release also stars Jackie Shroff and Keerthy Suresh. For Gabbi, who made a name for herself last year with Vikramaditya Motwane's 2023 web series Jubilee and Vishal Bhardwaj's OTT film Khufiya, Baby John is an opportunity to reach a wider audience and transition from OTT to big-screen entertainment.

Learning from Varun Dhawan: Mass entertainment and authenticity

According to the actor, she learnt a lot about how to front for mass entertainment by observing Dhawan's work. Observing him, she believes he is genuine. Working with him felt like creating magic with a supportive friend who stands by you no matter what. Gabbi came to the realisation that creating something enjoyable for a large audience is an art form; it's about relating to everyone, from the very first row to the very last. The way Dhawan skilfully elevated every scene while keeping it accessible helped her strike a balance between being genuine and putting on a show. Her goal is to become better at it.

Sanya Malhotra plays a brief role in Baby John, which will have a theatrical release on December 25, 2024, in time for Christmas.
