Waltair Veerayya has trumped expectations of many box office pundits and is off to a flying start at the ticket window. Devi Sri Prasad’s songs, which were trolled prior to the film’s release, have turned out to be fan anthems at theatres. Chiranjeevi, who went through a lull phase post Khaidi No 150, has finally scored another hit in his second innings. The film, written and directed by Bobby Kolli, which starred Shruti Haasan as the female lead, also featured Ravi Teja in a crucial role.
Much like Chiranjeevi’s earlier release Godfather, streaming giant Netflix has acquired the OTT rights of Waltair Veerayya as well. The film is expected to arrive on the streaming giant in the second or the third week of February. The action entertainer has a star-studded cast that also comprises Nasser, Prakash Raj, Bobby Simha, Rajendra Prasad, Shakalaka Shankar, Srinivas Reddy, Catherine Tresa in addition to Urvashi Rautela in a song appearance.
Set in a Vizag backdrop, Waltair Veerayya’s story takes off, when a few RAW agents nab a dreaded criminal Solomon Ceaser(Bobby Simha) and lock him up in a jail. However, when Solomon escapes and flees to Malaysia, the cops take the help of local messiah Waltair Veerayya(Chiranjeevi) to bring the former back. However, Veerayya has a personal motive behind nabbing Solomon. Waltair Veerayya offers an entertaining yet a familiar concoction of emotions, comedy, romance and action.
Arthur A Wilson was the cinematographer while Niranjan Devaramane had edited the film. AS Prakash handled production design and Sekhar master choreographed all songs in the album. Kona Venkat, K Chakravarthy Reddy wrote the screenplay and popular stunt director duo Ram-Lakshman worked on the action sequences. Chiranjeevi’s daughter Sushmita Konidela had designed the costumes.
