Varun Tej, whose action thriller Gandeevadhari Arjuna releases on August 25, is currently working on aviation drama tentatively titled VT13 alongside Manushi Chillar. He has given a nod to Palasa, Kalapuram director Karuna Kumar's new script, to be produced by Mohan Cherukuri (CVM) and Dr Vijender Reddy Teegala under Vyra Entertainments, the makers of Nani's Hi Nanna as well. The project formally commenced with a pooja ceremony in Hyderabad today.

Meenakshii Chaudhary and Nora Fatehi have come on board as the lead actresses for the film as of now. The latter will also be seen in a special number. The launch ceremony of VT14 was attended by the likes of Dil Raju, Allu Aravind, Niharika Konidela in addition to the core team - the producers, director Karuna Kumar, Varun Tej and Meenakshii Chaudhary. The film is touted to be a period saga set in 60s Vizag and will be made on a huge canvas. 

At the film launch, while Suresh Babu and the producers formally handed over the script to the director, Maruthi switched on the camera for the first shot, while Allu Aravind sounded the clapboard. Dil Raju directed the sequence and Harish Shankar unveiled the title poster. VT14 will henceforth be addressed as Matka, a film that'll release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada simultaneously.

Matka is expected to go on floors soon. Meanwhile, leading Tamil composer GV Prakash, who's currently working on Tiger Nageswara Rao and Venky Kudumula's upcoming entertainer with Nithiin, Rashmika, has been roped in for the music. The story unfolds 1958-1982 and is based on a true incident that reportedly shook the nation. Varun Tej will seen in four different avatars and will undergo a massive makeover before the shoot takes off. 

Naveen Chandra, Kannada Kishore, Ajay Ghosh, Mime Gopi, Roopalakshmi, Vijayrama Raju, Jagadeesh, Raj Tirandasu form the supporting cast. Priyaseth cranks the camera, Karthika Srinivas R is the editor while Suresh and Ashish Teja are the art director, production designer respectively.
