Mohanlal’s Malayalam-Telugu bilingual Vrushabha is set to go on floors in July this year. The project, which was first announced in Dubai last year, will be helmed by Kannada director Nanda Kishore, who had earlier directed movies such as Kiccha Sudeep’s Ranna and Dhruva Sarja’s Pogaru.
Mohanlal took to his social media page on Wednesday evening to share an update about the movie, which is touted to be an action-drama revolving around a father and son. The actor said, “It will be a very prestigious project for me and it's an ambitious project for all of us.”

The film, as per the makers, will be high on emotions and VFX and revolves “around the conflict between the emotions of love and revenge”. While Mohanlal plays the role of father, the team are planning to rope in a Telugu star to essay the role of the son. We had earlier learnt that Vijay Deverakonda was one the names that the team were in discussions with for the project.
In an earlier interview, Mohanlal said that the story will span generations and will also have battle sequences that will be shot in wintry conditions. The film, which will also be dubbed into Tamil, Hindi and Kannada, is written by Janardhan Maharishi and is currently expected to begin shooting on July 9.
The Malayalam superstar, meanwhile, is next set to resume the shoot of Jeethu Joseph’s Ram in Tunisia. He will then fly back to Chennai to complete the second schedule of Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malaikottai Vaaliban, before leaving to the UK to complete the remaining portions of Ram, which is planned as a duology.
Mohanlal is expected to join Vrushabha only after he completes Ram, which has been in production since 2019. The actor is also expected to begin shooting for Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial L2: Empuraan from August this year.
