Vishwambhara: Chiranjeevi's film yet to lock OTT deal, release date in dilemma

Megastar Chiranjeevi's upcoming film Vishwambhara was originally scheduled to hit the screens on January 10, 2025. However, Chiranjeevi sacrificed that date to allow his son, Ram Charan, to release his new film Game Changer on the same day. Now that Game Changer is out of the way, everyone is eagerly awaiting the release date of Vishwambhara.

We at OTTplay have already reported that the film is set to release on May 9, 2025. However, a new development has caused some confusion about the release date. The makers have yet to confirm the date, as Vishwambhara is still in the process of locking in its OTT partner.

These days, things have changed drastically, with top OTT platforms often determining the release dates of Telugu films. Since these platforms are paying large sums to producers for early OTT releases, they are now dictating terms for the theatrical releases as well. This is also the case with Vishwambhara.

A source close to the film unit revealed that the makers are in talks with a major OTT platform, which is taking time to finalize the release date. The 2025 calendar is almost set for platforms like Netflix and Amazon, so Vishwambhara's release date is still under discussion.

The source also mentioned that the makers are quoting a massive price for the OTT rights, and since the platform is nearly ready, they want to have an upper hand in deciding the release date. Directed by Vassistha, the film stars Trisha Krishnan as the female lead. MM Keeravani has composed the music for this fantasy drama, which is being made on a massive budget by UV Creations. The teaser was criticized by many due to poor VFX, and the makers are redoing the effects. Some even speculate that the delay is due to the VFX issues.
