Vishwak Sen, who recently made his OTT debut as a show host with Family Dhamaka on aha, is busy shooting for director Krishna Chaitanya’s action drama Gangs of Godavari. He was the chief guest for the pre-release event of Ramanna Youth (held on Monday), the political comedy headlined by Pelli Choopulu actor Abhai Naveen, who also turns a director with the film.

“You don’t need big budgets to make history, it was proved many times, be it Pelli Choopulu, Arjun Reddy, Balagam, Masooda or Falaknuma Das. The passion with which we make a film is priceless,” Vishwak said. He said how he always wanted to see his film’s name on a single screen ticket and his wish had come true with Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi. “Holding 100 tickets of my film was an unmatched joy.”

The actor-director is hopeful that Ramanna Youth will strike gold at the box office. He believes that rural youth have more knowledge on politics (and cricket) than the city-bred lot and they have firm opinions on every thing under the sun. “Abhai Naveen has captured that flavour in the film well. Tharun Bhascker had already discussed the plot of the film and it’s genuinely impressive.”

He appreciated that Ramanna Youth had a lot of female ADs on set as well. “We need more women in the industry, just like Mumbai; it’ll give our guys more motivation to perform better (laughs).” He recalled how Priyadarshi ragged him during the pre-release event of Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi. “Five years have gone past so quickly and I’m glad to share stage with him again,” he said, congratulating him for being part of a classic like Balagam.

The first episode of Vishwak Sen’s OTT show Family Dhamaka, the Telugu adaptation of the globally acclaimed Family Feud, began streaming on aha last Friday.
