Actor-filmmaker Vishal is quite upbeat about his upcoming movie Mark Antony. Written and directed by Adhik Ravichandran, the movie also stars SJ Suryah in a vital role. He has such strong conviction in the movie, that he seemed to have zero worry about going against Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan at the box office.

While Jawan is set to begin its theatrical run on September 7, Mark Antony will follow just a week later.

Jawan is a formidable rival

It's important to note that Jawan isn't just another Bollywood flick that poses no threat to South Indian blockbusters. Firstly, it's a Shah Rukh Khan starrer, secondly, it's written and directed by Atlee, and thirdly, it boasts a star-studded cast from the Tamil film industry. Many are anticipating a substantial opening for this movie in Tamil Nadu, which means Mark Antony will have to compete for screen space and audience attention with the formidable Jawan.

Vishal revealed that he has secured enough box office real estate that will allow his movie to weather the Jawan storm. "I have been in the trade for the last 19 years as a producer, ghost-director, actor and distributor. I have done everything under the sun. We have our own set of distributors, who have seen the film and loved the film. I have also got my own set of theatres," Vishal said in an exclusive conversation with OTTplay.

Vishal is a practical businessman

Vishal, who is also a distributor himself, is well aware of the competitive landscape and isn't fazed by the challenge posed by Jawan. "You can't avoid competition. You can't expect to enjoy a four-week window without any other releases before or after. I have three films coming out in Telugu, and my distributors continue to support me with a good number of theatres. May the best movie win. And definitely, it's not going to be a hindrance. Having a big film release every week is good for the box office," he said.

"I have put in too much blood, sweat and teasers in this movie and I am eagerly waiting for September 15," he added.

Mark Antony is a comedy-drama that revolves around a time-travelling telephone device. Besides Vishal and SJ Suryah, the movie also stars Ritu Varma Selvaraghavan, Sunil, and Abhinaya in supporting roles.
