Virupaksha became a big sleeper hit at the Telugu box office this year. The movie, starring Sai Dharam Tej and Samyuktha, didn't generate a lot of hype before its release. Virupaksha is directed by Karthik Varma Dandu from a screenplay written by filmmaker Sukumar of Pushpa fame. The movie is produced by B. V. S. N. Prasad and Sukumar through Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Sukumar Writings.

Besides Tej and Samyuktha, the movie also stars Sunil, Rajeev Kanakala, Brahmaji, Ajay, and Ravi Krishna in supporting roles. The film has a score from composer Ajaneesh Loknath and cinematography by Shamdat Sainudeen.

Virupaksha revolves around Surya (Sai Dharam Tej), who returns to his mother's village, Rudravanam, and instantly falls for Nandini (Samyuktha). However, behind the seemingly idyllic village lies a dark secret. Mysterious deaths occur due to occult practices, leaving the entire town gripped with fear. As the villagers search for the person responsible, the problems continue to escalate.

Virupaksha delves into various compelling themes that add depth to the narrative. The film explores the power of superstition and faith in people's lives, shedding light on how villagers are influenced by these beliefs, even if they may not be based on reality. The theme of love and sacrifice is also prominent, as Surya and Nandini are willing to make selfless sacrifices for the greater good. The battle between good and evil serves as a central conflict, emphasising the triumph of good over darkness.
