Virgin Story on OTT: Vikram Sahidev’s teen comedy garners impressive viewership on aha

Vikram Lagadapati, better known as Vikram Sahidev among Telugu audiences, has transitioned from a child artiste to a capable lead actor seamlessly over the years. The son of popular producer Lagadapati Sridhar was well-known for his performances as a child actor in films like Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini, Rudramadevi, Pataas and Race Gurram.

The young actor turned a male lead in his teens with the Kannada film Goli Sod that was later dubbed in Telugu as Yevadu Thakkuva Kadu. While his performance was received well, he made a mark in another biggie later, cast as Anwar in Allu Arjun’s father-son drama Naa Peru Surya Naa Illu India. The last year’s Sankranthi release Rowdy Boys helped his cause too.

Another film featuring Vikram as a lead, Virgin Story, written and directed by Pradip B Alturi, released last year. Soumika Pandiyan was the female lead in the film produced by Lagadapati Sridhar and Sireesha. After a brief theatrical run, the teen comedy took nearly a year and a half to arrive on OTT. Noted OTT platform aha acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights.

While Virgin Story arrived on aha sans fuss or hype, it is gradually making an impression on streaming enthusiasts, if we’re go to by the stats shared by the platform. The light-hearted entertainer has garnered an impressive 21 million streaming minutes on aha, that’s truly surprising, given the absence of any notable names beyond Vikram.

‘Gaurav Lagadapati presented the film that also starred Rishika Khanna and Vineeth Bavisetty in key roles. Achu Rajamani scored the music with Anish Tharun Kumar and Garry BH handling cinematography and the edits respectively. Vikram is believed to have signed another film as a lead will also be seen in a web show soon, reports confirm.
