The contentious storyline of Adah Sharma's newest film, The Kerala Story, has caused a stir. Women from Kerala who supposedly converted to Islam and joined the Islamic State terrorist group are the focus of this film.
The film's trailer originally advertised itself as the "story of 32,000 women," but after an outcry, it was changed to focus on only three women. Upon its first release on May 5, the film was quickly pulled off screens across Tamil Nadu. West Bengal residents also voiced their disapproval of the film. According to a story in ETimes, the film's director, Sudipto Sen, and producer, Vipul Shah, intend to challenge the ban in court.
When the entertainment portal questioned Vipul Shah about how he could be aware of the political parties' current state of mind, he responded that he couldn't. That's something they, and only they, can shed light on. After the Supreme Court has given the film the green light, any authority that still bans it must explain why it is doing so. When the filmmaker has contacts in the film industry that support him, he urges them to stay out of the controversy. Some people today have an issue with Bollywood, and if one shows their enthusiasm for the film, they will likely get trolled.
Vidyut Jammwal posted the trailer for the movie despite Vipul's urging him not to. Both affection and mockery were showered on him. There is a troll army out to ruin this movie. But the public is answering their question day by day. If The Kerala Story is banned in West Bengal, they will seek legal redress and pursue all available legal remedies.
The Kerala Story has received praise from several well-known actors. Shabana Azmi tweeted earlier today that those who speak of banning The Kerala Story are as wrong as those who wanted to ban Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha. No one else can impose their standards on a film once the CBFC has given it the go-ahead.
