The release date of Kurukkan, a new film that stars Vineeth Sreenivasan and Sreenivasan, has been announced. The film, which marks the comeback of veteran actor Sreenivasan after a gap of 3 years, is helmed by debutant Jayalal Divakaran.  The first-look poster and trailer of the fun investigation movie have already received a good response.

Kurukkan is all set to release in theatres on July 27.

The trailer for the film features Sreenivasan’s Krishnan, a cunning person who often adopts the identity of a deceitful witness in courtrooms. Judges and police personnel are aware of Krishnan’s reputation as a false witness but still allow his false testimony.

Sreenivasan excels in the courtroom scenes shown in the trailer with his comedic timing and expressions. Vineeth Sreenivasan, Sreenivasan's son, plays a cop who is entangled in some problems; he finds Krishnan a thorn in his side.

The movie appears to revolve around a murder investigation and Krishan's attempts to influence the trial. The first-look poster of the film featured Shine Tom Chacko, Sreenivasan, and Vineeth with quirky expressions. The film also marks the reunion of Sreenivasan and Vineeth Sreenivasan after Aravindante Athidhikal, Padmasree Bharat Dr. Saroj Kumar, and Makante Achan.

Manoj Ram Singh is responsible for the script for Kurukkan, which also stars Shruthi Jayan, Sudheer Karamana, Gowri Nandha, Srikanth Murali, Malavika Menon, Ansiba Hassan, and Azeez Nedumangad.

Meanwhile, Vineeth has been playing diverse characters on screen. Mukundan Unni Associates, which was released last year, was a turning point in his career. In the film, he played a cruel, sadistic man who feels no remorse for his deeds. The role is also considered another version of Jake Gyllenhaal’s character in Night Crawler.
