Vinay Rajkumar has often spoken about how his choice of films veers away from standard commercial stuff. Whether it is 10, Graamaayana, Andondittu Kaala or Pepe, he’s tried to do different and rather experimental films. One of them, Graamaayana, a rural subject, which he was quite kicked about has been in a limbo, ever since its producer NLN Murthy passed away of Covid, during the pandemic.
When OTTplay spoke to Vinay ahead of his recent release 10, he said that he was hopeful of finding someone new to back the project, as it is a story that he believes ought to be told on the big screen. Sources now tell us that the team has successfully found a new backer. KP Srikanth, who has made films like Tagaru, Salaga, among others, and is currently co-producing Upendra’s UI, was recently given a narration of director Devanur Chandra’s film and saw rushes of the portions that have already been canned. Srikanth, we hear, is mighty impressed with the subject and has agreed to take on the mantle of producer. The team is likely to resume shooting soon, since Vinay has completed his other acting commitments, including Pepe, which was wrapped up recently.
A pakka rural subject, Graamaayana has Vinay playing a character called Sixth Sense Seena. He sports a bearded look in the film, which has music by Poornachandra Tejaswi and Abhishek G. Kasargod. Vikram More is the stunt director. The film also stars Amrita Aiyer, Sampath Maitreya, Aparna, Sita Kote, Srinivas Prabhu, and Manjunath Hegde, among others.
Meanwhile, Vinay, whose 10 had a quiet release last Friday, is looking forward to Pepe, his first gangster flick. The film will release in the first quarter of 2023, with a date to be announced soon. As for 10, which was the actor’s first boxing flick, it will soon drop on Amazon Prime Video.
