Avika Gor, who has had two releases this year, - the nostalgic romance 10th Class Diaries and Naga Chaitanya's Thank You - will next be seen in a rustic romance titled Umapathi. Budding actor Anuragh plays the male lead in the film directed by Satya Dwarapudi. Umapathi is the official Telugu remake of Vimal and Oviya's Tamil hit Kalavani. The film is produced by K Koteswar Rao under Krishi Creations and Avika Screen Creations.
The first look of Umapathi was launched commemorating Diwali earlier this week. In the instantly likeable poster, Anuragh (seated on a bike) and Avika (in a half-saree) are staring into each other's eyes amidst the fields. The good on-screen chemistry between the duo contributes to its appeal. The makers label Umapathi a pleasant love story set in a rural backdrop. Umapathi also stars Posani Krishna Murali, Thulasi, Praveen, Auto Ram Prasad, Trinadh, Srimannarayana, Bhadram, Srinivas, and Jayavani.
Shaktikanth Karthick, who hogged the limelight for Sekhar Kammula's Fidaa, is the composer of Umapathi. While Raghavendra is the cinematographer, Goutham Raju and Nani are the editors. Venkat Are handles art direction with Chandrabose, Murthy Devagupthapu, and Bhaskarabhatla penning the songs. Umapathi has already wrapped its shoot and the post-production formalities are progressing at a brisk pace. The team is expected to release the film by the end of 2022.
Kalavani's plot revolves around a character Arivazhagan, a good-for-nothing villager who doesn't take life too seriously. However, when he is smitten by a woman Maheshwari from a nearby rival village and she responds to his advances, all hell breaks loose. Currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar and Youtube, Kalavani was directed by A Sarkunam.
