Ahead of Lal Salaam and Lover release, Vikranth reveals he wondered why he didn’t get a film like Good Night

Actor Vikranth, who will be next seen in sports drama Lal Salaam, opened up about the commerciality feature on which the film industry works on and said how he had even wondered why a film like Good Night did not come in his way.

The actor revealed this while speaking at an interview to a local media channel on the sidelines of promoting his upcoming film. It is to be noted that Manikandan-starrer Good Night was one of the successes of 2023. Both Lover and Lal Salaam are scheduled to release on February 9.

Why didn’t I get a film like Good Night?

Speaking at the interview, Vikranth said he wanted to be “blunt” in his words, and added, “Now, only if you are in a certain commercial level, you will be able to receive good stories. Because, those who have done good stories have worked with directors who are above their level and that is how business also gets generated to make the project bigger. So, the stories eventually go to those who are big and better in the market. We have to keep running until that one person comes.”

Vikranth also defended how the practise is not wrong since cinema is a business at the end of the day, and would want to do it. When asked if despite his talent and face value, his market viability has not let him get good projects, Vikranth replied, “That will be there right? I have wondered why I didn’t get a film like Good Night. It is because Manikandan is also a writer, and he knows a lot of directors, working behind camera and is in the field. I am not like that and I only hear scripts. That is why I admire Manikandan, Vijay Sethupathi, because they are so involved in cinema.”

Lal Salaam vs Lover

Lal Salaam also starring Vishnu Vishal in the lead role, is a cricket-based film. It is directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth and also stars Rajinikanth and cricketer Kapil Dev in cameo roles. It is interesting to note that Lal Salaam will be clashing at the box office along with Lover starring Manikandan in the lead role. Directed by debutant filmmaker Prabhuram Vyas, the film is billed to be a romantic drama.
