In a recent interview, Vikrant Massey was questioned about his acting process. Unable to precisely articulate what exactly ticks his acting process checklist, the actor tried to explain it by citing examples from his performances, like Death in The Gunj and 12th Fail.
When further probed by host Samdish on the matter, Vikrant gave the example of the arduous struggles of Manoj Kumar Sharma’s life in 12th Fail, sharing that he too had faced similar struggles in life.
Next, he cited the high level of self-respect the character held in the film, and connected it with his own similar views. Vikrant Massey also felt that Manoj Sharma’s “persistence towards the right thing”, no matter the hurdle, is also a trait he possesses in himself. And then he made the big reveal - “This is the closest any character has ever been to me”.
As for his acting process, Massey claimed that if he ever figures out a single process or roadmap for acting, he will definitely share it. As for his opinion on getting into a character, Vikrant shared that he feels the internal thoughts must be on the right track, the expressions and physical reactions will automatically come.
He explained how everyone feels emotions like jealousy, anger, envy, but that execution or expression is different for all in such cases. Since he is not a trained actor, Massey claims, he prefers observing and learning.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail has won hearts all over the n ation, with its hustling and honest premise of a young rustic man, without proper training in English, cracking the UPSC exam and becoming an IPS officer. Based on a true story, the film’s excellent execution was further propelled by Vikrant Massey’s tearjerker performance , one of his career best.
