Vikram's Thangalaan gets a release date as Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 misses out on major holiday

Thangalaan, starring Tamil superstar Vikram in the lead, is one of the most awaited movies. And the filmmakers finally seemed to have zeroed in on a release date for the movie. The latest buzz is Thangalaan will release in cinemas in January next year to cash in on the Pongal holiday. However, an official confirmation of the same is awaited. 

Many were expecting Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan's Indian 2, written and directed by Shankar, will hit the screens during the Pongal celebration. However, recently actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin, who founded Red Giant Movies, confirmed that the film's production will take longer than expected . He revealed that there was about 25 day of shooting left, following which the post-production will begin. He noted that the filmmakers have plans to release the movie in cinemas in April 2024.

Thangalaan is filmmaker Pa Ranjith's most ambitious film yet, both in terms of scale and budget. The movie has been made at a huge cost against the period backdrop. Set in Kolar gold fields during British colonial rule, Thangalaan tells the tale of a tribe who stood up to the colonial invaders. The movie caught the imagination of the audience soon after the release of its first look, featuring Vikram in a never-seen-before look . Vikram has transformed even his physique for his role in Thangalaan and his commitment to his role is a sign of belief he has in the movie and Ranjith's vision. 

Besides Vikram, Thangalaan also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan and Harikrishnan.
