Vikram Vedha's opening weekend grosses were low at Rs. 37.75 crore nett, although they were strong in several circuits. The film's word-of-mouth in large circuits was the bigger issue than the opening, which did not help the film have a strong trajectory over the weekend.

As per Box Office India, the killer was Sunday because it was a national holiday for Gandhi Jayanti and growth should have been good and far better than a usual Sunday, but here the film hardly managed to go up 20%. Saturday saw respectable growth for a film with such a wide release. This was primarily due to the film's general audience's lack of enthusiasm, which prevented a significant Sunday push. The volume of collections on Saturday should have made this simple.

The release time is not ideal for Navratri. Even with these factors taken into account, the movie ought to have performed better. There was a big cricket event on Sunday and it was pre-Dussehra, both of which may have helped. A movie that is more multiplex-friendly should have at least had a better trajectory; Akshay Kumar starrer Samrat Prithviraj, which was performing better in various mass circuits, just had a better weekend and the same trajectory. It now involves a hold on Monday and a benefit throughout the Dussehra holiday.

The following are Vikram Vedha's first weekend collections:

Friday: Rs. 10.25 crore approx

Saturday: Rs 12.75 crore approx

Sunday: Rs 14.75 crore approx

Total: Rs 37.75 crore approx

Vikram Vedha is the Hindi remake of the 2017 Tamil action-thriller of the same name. The Bollywood movie features Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan in the titular roles and is directed by the duo of Pushkar and Gayatri. The film clashed with Mani Ratnam's magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1, which was released in multiple languages including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
