The much-waited Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram finally hit theatres on Friday. With a record number of screens playing the film in the South states, the film is a testament to the fan following of its lead star Kamal Haasan, as well as the stellar cast featuring Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi and a cameo by Suriya.

Expectations were also sky high with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, who after the success of Kaithi and Master, is teaming up with the Ulaganayakan with the movie. Even before the release, the movie was expected to take the third biggest opening in 2022 for a Tamil movie after Ajith’s Valimai and Vijay’s Beast, with it hitting more than 5000 screens.

With the first shows starting early in various states, here’s a look at the Twitter reviews from fans who managed to catch the FDFS of this action entertainer, which has reportedly already earned Rs 200 crore before it even hit the cinema halls through its digital and satellite rights.

Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram delivers on the hype

While many already predicted Vikram to be a hit, the only doubt that had existed was whether it would be a Kamal Haasan film or a Lokesh Kanagaraj one? It seems the filmmaker had brought in his signature style to elevate the movie and also deliver on the massive hype.

Fahadh and Vijay Sethupathi rule the first half

Soon after the first half was over, Twitter was flooded with reviews with many praising the interval block, which some even claimed had offered the same excitement as RRR's. A common grouse was that Kamal Haasan got limited screen time in the first half. However, Fahadh and Sethupathi apparently put on brilliant performances that more than made for the Ulaganayakan's absence.

Second half is worth every penny

While many on Twitter, who had watched the film, said that first half takes its time to set up the story, the second half is explosive and well worth the hype. This also included a cameo from Suriya that was the perfect addition, according to many.

Every cast member delivers

With Lokesh packing the film's cast to the hilt with actors such as Narain, Chemban Vinod Jose, Kalidas Jayaram, Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman, Gayathrie Shankar and Shanvi Srivastava, it was doubtful whether every actor will get their due. But the audience reaction says each one delivers potent performance in the limited screen time.

'Certain portions did seem slow'

While many who had watched the FDFS were happy with how the film ended, there were those who weren't quite satisfied with how the film was paced and also it's violent action scenes.

Beginning of a franchise

Lokesh had previously confirmed that Vikram and Kaithi were set in the same universe. And a few stellar cameos and references from Kaithi confirms that Vikram will kick off a mega franchise in Tamil featuring some of the best talents in the country.

Considering the response after the FDFS, it does seem Lokesh has a blockbuster in his hands and it would kick off a new action franchise that is sure to get fans excited.
