Crazy Star V Ravichandran’s younger son, Vikram Ravichandran’s debut was one of the most-anticipated launchpads this year. The film, Trivikrama, directed by Sahana Murthy, however, was a colossal failure, with the fimmaker’s story-telling and execution widely panned. While Vikram’s performance and his dancing and fighting skills were lauded, fans felt that they were wasted in a film like Trivikrama.
Now, five months later, the actor is finally ready to announce his next. Vikram will now begin shooting for an as-yet-untitled massy commercial flick to be directed by debutant director Karthik Rajan. A gangster story, the film will be shot in raw and realistic format and will see the actor in his most massy avatar yet.
Karthik, who has worked in Tamil and Telugu cinema as writer and assistant director, stepped into Sandalwood with the Daali Dhananjaya production, Head Bush – The Rise and Rise of Bengaluru. The film was officially launched with a muhurtha on the occasion of Vikram’s brother, Manu Ravichandran’s birthday. Manu sounded the first clap for the project to signal its beginning. The film will go on floors in January, by which time the team is hopeful of announcing the title and details about the rest of the cast and crew as well. As of now, only the music director has been confirmed. Yuvaraj, who has worked with composer S Thaman earlier, will score the music of Vikram’s next.
According to Karthik, Vikram was immensely impressed with the story narration and okayed the project almost immediately. The film is being backed by Raksha and Vijaykumar, who had earlier made Mugilpete, starring Manu, as well as Vikram and Manu’s home banner, Eashwari Productions. Shooting for the film will primarily be in Shivamogga and Bengaluru. A first-look teaser of Vikram’s character and title will be launched in January, says the team.
