With his recent film Vikram, Kamal Haasan proved how extensive pre-release promotions can help draw audiences to theatres. The Ulaganayagan visited different places before and after the release of the movie to ensure that the film reaches every nook and corner. It looks like actor Vikram is now following his footsteps.
Ahead of the release of Cobra, which will hit the screens on August 31, he has come up with a plan to meet audiences in a few parts of Tamil Nadu and other cities in south India. He began his promotion today from Trichy and visited St Joseph's College in the city.
Amid cheers and whistles from students, he requested them to watch Cobra and said that director Ajay Gnanamuthu's efforts will be paid off. He also said that the movie will be a treat for film lovers as it has entertaining elements like action and emotions in the right proportion.
Vikram asked the audience, "Did you like Anniyan? How about sci-fi films like Enthiran and Irumugan? I'm sure you will love Cobra, too. Like many usually claim, I don't want to say this is a very different movie. But I can assure you that this has a fresh subject."
Vikram also recollected visiting Trichy during his young days and spoke about his co-stars Srinidhi Shetty, Mirnalini Ravi and Meenakshi Govindarajan who were also present at the promotional event.
Cobra is the actor's first theatrical release in the pandemic era; his last outing which hit the screens was Kadaram Kondan which came out in 2019. Mahaan, his action drama which released earlier this year, was a direct-to-OTT release. AR Rahman has composed music for Cobra which has former cricketer Irfan Pathan making his acting debut.
